Tapping is a wonderfully simple, yet effective, self-help technique which has an amazing calming effect on the body and it's used for a wide range of issues including: *anxiety/stress *traumas *fears or phobias *procrastination and blocks *pain management *limiting beliefs (old programming) *financial stress *public speaking phobia *weight loss/body confidence *food cravings *PTSD... Tapping utilizes the same points on the body that acupuncturists use. But, with this technique we use our fingertips to 'tap' on these points vs using needles to stimulate the area. This tapping action sends a calming signal directly to the brain, specifically the amygdala (the stress centre or commonly known as the fight-or-flight centre) and the hippocampus (the memory centre), which in turn gently calms the body with every tap. It effectively rewires the brain and eases the memory of the event allowing for a rational assessment of the situation to prevail. This provides a safe 'bystander' feel vs being submersed in the intensity of the issue. Karen gently asks prompting questions to help her clients to safely connect to the uncomfortable feeling without having to delve in deeply into it, but taking note of the location where this feeling is housed, like in the stomach, and then we simply tap together while staying 'in tune' to that area of the body that's storing that feeling. Clients simply 'mirror' the tapping sequence along with Karen while repeating key words as we tap on the body. This work allows you to reach a point where the original feeling no longer invokes an uncomfortable response. We do not erase past events, but this incredibly effective perhaps funny looking tapping technique can provide a sort of neutralizing effect surrounding the memory of the event.
